  GRE: Did you take it, and did it actually matter?

  With more programs dropping GRE requirements, trying to figure out whether it is worth taking.

  My situation: 3.4 undergrad GPA, CCRN certified, 2+ years CVICU. Applying to 8 programs, 4 still list GRE as required.

  Questions:
  – Did you take the GRE? What were your scores?
  – Did programs actually weigh it heavily or was it a checkbox?
  – For programs that say “recommended but not required” – did skipping it hurt you?

  Also curious if programs are genuinely trending away from GRE or if that is only been a handful of schools.
